Tiny Low Footprint House
A zero-emissions demonstration house built for COP27 — a call to rethink consumerism and waste.

Built as a free-standing installation visible from all sides at COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, the Tiny Low Footprint House sets out what an environmentally conscious life looks like at the scale of one dwelling. Nothing is concealed: every system is on show, which is the point of a demonstration building.

The envelope is rammed earth on a limestone plinth. Upcycled wood makes the window frames, doors, interior partitions and cabinetry. Three solar panels and a solar water heater carry the energy load. Rain is collected off the roof, greywater is separated and stored, sanitation runs on a biogas toilet feeding a gas filter and a fertiliser tank, and a hydroponic edible garden closes the loop.

The installation addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals 3, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12 and 13.
