LEED Gold Mosque
Taking a prayer hall to LEED Gold without losing the quiet, cool, daylit room a mosque needs.
Certification work goes wrong when it arrives late. Here the LEED documentation runs alongside the architecture, so the credits being chased still have the power to change the plan — orientation, glazing ratio, the depth of the shading — instead of arriving as a list of things to retrofit and pay for twice.
The building itself works on the usage pattern. A mosque fills at prayer and empties between, which suits thermal mass: the structure absorbs the peak, high-level openings release it overnight, and the hall is lit through the day without switching anything on.
